In the area of discrimination based on disability (physical and/or mental):
▪ Community education on mental health
anxiety, and depression awareness. Providing
safe spaces to people who are struggling, access
to local treatment, and local resource
availability. Adults learning about inclusion.
▪ Build a culture to accept students with special
needs, have empathy but see difference.
Exposure to different types of people.
▪ Education on ACEs [Adverse Childhood
Experiences] is important when it comes to
mental health, because that might change bias.
▪ Establishing procedures to support mental
wellness and sharing [them] during [job]
interviews would be helpful and might help

helpful and even reduce the absenteeism
concerns for individual who cannot get out of

A conversation among Youth Programs Participants
An example I have seen a lot, they do make fun of
disabled kids very much and I am in class with them, so
I see it a lot and I want to speak out but like I said

as a problem for Pro Action. Maybe working
together with other agencies as a network
group to talk about what the network can do to remove the stigma of color as a bad thing without
removing [anyone9s] identity.
▪ Community conversations. We have stopped listening to each other. We don't listen to understand.
Community Cafés to talk about these hard topics ... space for safe conversations.
▪ Increase depiction of diversity in materials that we use in programs, schools, materials. Can people see
themselves / culture in the materials?
