RICHARD BLACKFORD IN CONVERSATION WITH THOMAS HYDE
2024 Festival composer-in-residence Richard Blackford discusses his life, career and music
with fellow composer Thomas Hyde. Blackford studied composition with John Lambert at
the Royal College of Music and later with Hans Werner Henze in Rome. Recently, The Times
wrote of his ‘wonderfully sensitive settings in which every nuance of the text seems perfectly
mirrored in his tonal and often voluptuously lyrical music’.
