Nolan was closely involved
with the foundation of the Presteigne Festival. He was great friends with Benjamin
Britten and looked to Aldeburgh as a model for The Rodd. During his career he
collaborated on Kenneth MacMillan’s The Rite of Spring, with Jean Cocteau’s Orphée
and Serge Lifar’s Icare. Much of his work was created whilst listening to classical
music. During the Festival, archival material relating to Nolan’s work in theatre and
opera will be on display in Rodd Court.
