Topic overview
This task is designed for Transition Year students and is based on a
#ThinkLanguages video that includes interviews with a diverse range of individuals
who have reaped the benefits of language skills in their professional and personal
lives. Interviews with CEO of Olympic Council of Ireland Peter Sherrard, Gaming
Translator Ethan O’Brien, Content Creator Mandy Cherie, Comedian Killian
Sundermann and Erasmus Student Gintare Gedmintaite are included.

The aim of the task is for students to develop a greater awareness of the value of
language-learning, based on real world case studies.
Task description
By completing the task, students will be better positioned to understand the variety
of personal and professional gains that can be accrued through the learning of
Modern Foreign Languages.
Learning outcomes
Students will understand the importance of languages for professional development.
Students will be able to reflect on the variety of ways in which personal gains can be
made through language-learning.
