these skills.

Students should have their Languages Connect Work Experience activity
pack during the class.
2) To begin, students will develop an understanding of what skills are.
Document A (located on page 7 of this resource) is a tarsia puzzle which
will help students to develop this understanding.
3) Now, students try to identify key skills present in language learning
which they would have come across during their work experience. In
Document B (located on page 8 of this resource), students can work
individually or in pairs.
They read the statements and match them with the identified skills.
This will help the students recognise that learning/using language
helps develop a wide range of skills. (This can be reinforced by
displaying the skills poster on your guidance board.)
4) Students will then move to looking at the development of their own
personal skills. In Document C (located on pages 9-11 of this resource),
students will reflect on the skills they used and developed during their
work experience.
Students should work individually on Section A.
In Section B, students work in pairs to develop a personal plan to
develop more key skills. Their plan can be reviewed over the year and
help them to choose activities which will help them master a new key
skill.
