Thurmont
Over 100,000 visitors flock here every October for Colorfest,
a festival celebrating fall in the Catoctin Mountains with over
750 vendors with crafts, art, and food that is throughout
the town. The surrounding countryside offers a backdrop to
explore twenty-five miles of hiking trails at Catoctin Mountain
Park, or take in the sites at the state’s highest cascading
waterfall and lake at Cunningham Falls State Park.
Meet me on Main Street to take a stroll along the Thurmont
Trolley Trail to enjoy all the of nature and wildlife you will
find along your walk. The trolley trail will deliver you to the
Thurmont Regional Library and points beyond. Travel the
surfaced Trolley Trail that once was used for the Thurmont
trolley car. After exploring the Trolley Trail, indulge in a
delicious meal or sandwich at one of many locally owned
restaurants. Bridge Hunting? You will find 3 of the state’s 5
historic covered bridges right here in Thurmont. Taste the
flavors of the season by visiting one our 4 orchards, 3 wineries,
2 breweries, and a distillery. We have something for everyone!

Santa train, visit the Holiday Marketplace, shake
loose with the Jingle Bell Run & Santa Stroll, and

HERITAGE FESTIVAL

Celebrate all that is Middletown with a miles long
parade with floats, horses, dancing, and the favorite
foxhound dogs. This dawn-to-dusk celebration is one
you don’t want to miss!
SCARECROWS MARCH DOWN MAIN
Oct 19
Visit Middletown to see the most creative crop
of scarecrows imaginable as each year, families,
businesses and local groups create amazing
scarecrows that display whimsy, style and personality
that adorn our downtown to keep the ghosts and
goblins at bay. This is a fun event for the entire family!
