DURST-TAYLOR HISTORIC HOUSE AND GARDENS

This circa 1835 wood-frame house is the second oldest
structure in the city. Restored by the City of Nacogdoches
to interpret the 1840 to 1860 time period, the hands-on
museum includes a smokehouse, blacksmith shop and
chicken yard. Free Admission.
BANITA CREEK TRAIL
Trailhead at western end of Rusk St., 936/559-2960
The 1.9-mile Banita Creek Trail winds through the
pristine setting of the western part of town and even
includes waterfalls. You’ll be surrounded by Shagbark
Hickory, Florida Maple and Sparkleberry.

This beautifully renovated 1880s opera house includes
three galleries in which exhibitions by SFA faculty and

This information hub provides books, DVDs, audiobooks,
eBooks, eAudiobooks and a wide range of online
databases for schoolwork and genealogy work. The
library also offers a variety of innovative programs such
as technology help and training, Makerspace workshops
for children, adult events for learning, public computers,
printing and copying services, and entertainment. Need
to use something like a cake pan, small tools, a telescope
or bike repair tools for a special occasion or one-time
use? Items like these can be checked out from the Library
of Things and returned after use. Cardholders also have
borrowing privileges at SFA’s Steen Library.
