What are your favorite
Christmas Traditions?
The Christmas season is a magical time of the year. We asked
Plymouth to share their favorite Christmas traditions, music,
food and even offer some last-minute gift suggestions. Let’s all
share in the joy of the season!
Kristin Boldt
What is your favorite Christmas
tradition or memory?
Growing up my mom always arranged a
big gathering with friends on Christmas
Eve. There were three consistent families
each year and then if she ran into friends
who didn’t have anywhere to go she would
invite them to join us. The warmth, and
love, and welcome of those nights will
always hold a special place in my heart.
After dinner we would head to Plymouth. Between Matins and
Chancel choirs, my Christmas Eve always ends in the choir loft.
Emily Ellen Leader
What is your favorite Christmas
tradition or memory?
Decorating our Christmas Tree while
reminiscing the meaningful ornaments
gifted over the years.
What is your favorite Christmas song?
When 104.1 starts the holiday music, it’s
game on. Impossible to choose. But our top
family favorites are “Silent Night”, “Jingle
Bells”, “Go Tell it on the Mountain”, “O
Come Emmanuel”, “Sleigh Ride”, and “Rudolf ”. All of them!
What’s your favorite Christmas food, dessert, or meal?
When my sister and I were Matins, our parents made a Taco dinner
Christmas Eve. We’ve continued this meal as a family and it’s especially
fun now that Charlie is a 10th grader in Matins.
Do you have any good gift suggestions?
Depends on the person, think of their interests and wants, not needs.
What is your favorite Christmas song or hymn?
“Candlelight Carol” and “The Work of Christmas”.
What’s your favorite Christmas food, dessert, or meal?
Pies are very important to our Christmas meal. My grandma Boldt
passed down all her recipes to me. She used to make everyone’s
favorite for the holidays. The family is smaller now but chocolate
chiffon pie and pecan pie are the current favorites.
Do you have any good gift suggestions?
I love to give experiences. The older I get the more minimalist I find
myself becoming. I love the idea of coming up with creative ways to
share time and new experiences, especially now that my daughters are
grown and out on their own.
Pam Kenyon

chronological order the 20 sermons from
“God With Us: Stories of Christmas,”
David Ruhe’s paperback book of Christmas
Eve sermons from his 20 years at Plymouth

What is your favorite Christmas song?
“A Philly Special Christmas” album.
What’s your favorite Christmas food, dessert, or meal?
