ASSOCIATE PASTOR
PETER STROBEL
LEGO Ministry:
• Led the second iteration of the LEGO Christmas Village that
featured the work of over 40 Plymouth families.
• Created a LEGO pride cathedral and surrounded it with
buildings and characters created by Plymouth families.
• Teamed up with the Board of Children, Teens, and Families
to have LEGO events for the Plymouth Pride Festival and the
Advent Festival.
• Created a comprehensive LEGO ministry hand-off plan and
sorted pieces for easy future builds.
Pastoral Care:
• Reached out to congregation members to get to know them
better over coffee or lunch. I am trying to meet with as many
members as possible while I am here, so don’t be a stranger.
Hello Church!
As I am reaching the end of my time at Plymouth, I am grateful
for this opportunity to intentionally look back and offer an
account of all I have done thus far. It is bittersweet to only
have a few months left with you, but I plan to make the most
of it. During the last year, the most consistent feedback I have
received from the congregation is, “something has changed since
you got here,” and I believe you are right. I do not know when,
but at some point, you have helped me become a better preacher,
teacher, and human being. I am grateful to be one of your TiM’s
and look forward to all that may come during the rest of my time
at Plymouth. Here is a short list of all I have done so far.
• Did rounds at the hospital to care for members and their
families who were sick or recovering from surgeries.
• Revamped Good Samaritan gift tracking and compiled giving
to release the first pastoral discretionary spending report for the
Board of Deacons and Board of Benevolences to share with
the congregation.
Worship:
• I delivered seven sermons at Plymouth, did pulpit supply at
Decorah UCC during the Young Adult Summer trip, and a
guest pulpit at North Congregational Church in Massachusetts.
• I led a funeral and an interment.
• I presided over three weddings! I will wrap up May by
marrying my older brother and his fiancé in Montana.
• I walked with the congregation through Advent, Christmas,
Lent, Holy Week, Easter, and the rest of the liturgical year.
I was honored to have the chance to preach on Good Friday.
Young Adult Ministry:
• In June 2023, I revived the Plymouth Young Adults.
• I revamped the Church Center profile, planned events at the
Renaissance Faire, pumpkin patches in Decorah, IA, Blank
Park Zoo, the Art Center, and Adventureland.
• The highlights were a The Office themed Christmas party,
making D&D characters, Harry Potter themed parties, and a
Friendsgiving dinner.
