Teen Programming:
Futuring:
New non-music teen programming was put on hold during
September – December as we awaited new hire Pastor Victor
Andre Greene to arrive from France. After Victor’s resignation
in December, Pastor Melody raised her hand to take on teen
programming in addition to her other functions. Pastor Jared
placed a pause for hiring in the teen area and initiated a term
of discernment to let Melody begin to interweave both jobs and
discern what, if anything, needed to be changed in staffing. In
March, the BCTF approved a plan presented by Pastors Jared
and Melody to utilize Ministry Architects as a consultant to
help Melody lead us through an 18-month growth opportunity
in teen programming. The plan was accepted by Executive
Council, but a grant to seek funding from the Foundation to
support the consultant was put on hold as we received the
resignation of Pastor Melody which will take effect June 1st.
The current search committee to hire an additional pastor
was expanded to also include finding someone to replace the
functions that Melody has provided for us. Many people are
involved in finding staff and pathways to continue the good
works we have already put in motion for our children and
families, while exploring how to support teen programming.
We thank board members Lina Reinders and Jess Patterson for
volunteering to be on the search committee.
We will continue work on developing the children’s reading/
quiet room, increase child-care staffing so that it consistently
frees up Samantha for administrative support, increase childcare
offerings, increase Church School classrooms to support increased
enrollment, involve more parents in planning and ownership
of programming, ensure volunteer coverage, provide upper
elementary opportunities, build on communications, evaluate and
update technology, and develop expanded teen opportunities.

Executive Committee:
Our chair and vice-chair provided a presence at our church’s
Open and Affiriming Pridefest Celebration in October by
providing an information booth. We thank Melody, Samantha,
and Jocelyn for providing several child-friendly activities.
Bylaws Updates:
At the November bylaws meeting, we were granted our request
to change the number of board members from fifteen to twelve
and to update our name to Board of Children, Teens, and
Families to more fully reflect the scope of our mission.
