ABOUT THE HOCKEY
ON-ICE / OFF-ICE TRAINING
Being a Hockey Canada Accredited
School, our student-athletes train for
10-months, from September until June.
They receive 165-205 on-ice hours,
185-215 off-ice hours, on top of the 140
study hall hours. Our students have
many special guest presentations/
sessions throughout the year, Humble
Strong Leadership Training (year-long
class), Nutrition, Social Media
Awareness, Mental Health Care and
Awareness, Team Video sessions, and
many more. We conduct four on and
off-ice fitness tests a year (September,
December, March and June).
SKILL DEVELOPMENT
Our Skills coach Scott King is on the
ice with all our athletes and teams 1-2
times a week. Scott focuses on
developing individual skills and tactics
that improve and have a major impact
on our players skill level and
development.
STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING
Our Strength and Conditioning coach
Dustin Friesen develops hockey
specific programs for our teams and
players. Each team/individual program
is developed around their weekly/
monthly training schedule, which
includes: on ice practices, power
skating sessions, skills development
sessions, and games. These programs
work in tandem with Highland Physio
in providing the best athletic care
possible for our players. We test our
players multiple times throughout the
year to track progress and to allow for
adjustments in programming.
PLAYER DEVELOPMENT
Prairie Hockey Academy is committed
to developing our athletes and helping
them reach their highest potential on
and off the ice. Our team and player
programming schedule is designed to
incorporate various components
needed to develop the skills and
abilities to be an elite hockey player.
POWER SKATING
Our Power Skating coach Liane Davis
works with all our players and has a
major impact on their development.
