Bounced back from two back-to-back recessions (2008,2011) that nearly eradicated the program completely.Key staff remained as volunteers in order to be there forPeacePlayers communities during those difficult times, andmade sure the program was able to weather the storm.2012AFTER THE 2008 RECESSION LEFT PEACEPLAYERS SOUTH AFRICA WITH ONLY150 PARTICIPANTS, NEARLY 10 YEARS LATER, THEIR PARTICIPATIONHAD MULTIPLIED 15 TIMES.PeacePlayers South Africa won the KZN Department ofSport and Recreation Body of the Year Award.“[THESE AWARDS ARE] SIGNIFICANT BECAUSE WE HAVE BEENWORKING TO SOLIDIFY INSTITUTIONAL PARTNERSHIPS WITHGOVERNMENT AGENCIES TO SUPPORT THE GROWTH OF OURORGANIZATION AND INCREASE BRAND AWARENESS.IN 2021 WE RECEIVED A GRANT FROM THE DEPT.
