During a PeacePlayers South Africa joint practice between boys from
an affluent, predominantly white private school and boys from Molweni
Township, the private school team noticed that many of the boys from
Molweni were playing barefoot.
When learning that this was because they could not afford shoes, the
private school team took their shoes off, playing the rest of the game
barefoot in a show of genuine compassion and solidarity.
