NEW MINISTER
TO BE ORDAINED

T
he 60th Annual General
Meeting of the Synod of
the Presbyterian Church
of Trinidad and Tobago
(PCTT) accepted Intern Minister
Sanya Beharry as an Ordinand with
ordination set for 25 October 2020.
The Jubilee AGM was held virtually
on 21 August 2020 for the first
time due to Covid-19 pandemic. It
was originally scheduled for April
but postponed in July due to the
Covid-19 lockdown. It eventually
was convened through the Zoom
meeting platform due to further
pandemic restrictions. The meeting
also received three new candidates
for the Ministry. They were Jessica
Mahadeo, Stephan Wilson, and
Peter Arjoon.
The virtual meeting began with
a worship session conducted by
the South-Central Presbytery.
Participating were Student
Deaconess Amber Seesahai-Payne
and Intern Minister Sanya Beharry. In
her homily, Sanya Beharry explored
the conversion of Saul reminding
Synod members that while they
were caught up in the whirlwind of
life, God’s intervention continues
to show what is important. Intern
Minister Beharry called for Christ’s
love to illuminate and lead in unity
and reconciliation.
The business session of the
meeting was presided over by
the Moderator, the Rt. Reverend
Joy Abdul-Mohan. Reports were
received from the Moderator,
General Secretary, Synodical
Council and Executive of Synodical
Council, the Property Manager,
and the National Youth Coordinator. The Zoom technical team
ensured that voting was facilitated
anonymously, and questions were
adequately attended to in a timely
manner.
