What features should be looked for in quality safety glasses?
Check to see that the spectacles have the Australian and New Zealand Standards logo which indicate that they conform to tests
for impact resistance. There are also lens markings indicating suitability for specioc applications.
Fitting guide checklist:
There are many design features of Safety Glasses that will
improve the overall comfort and protection. Some of these
include:
1. There should be no uncomfortable pressure points on the
side of the head or behind the ears.
" Anti-fog coatings to improve visibility in hot/humid
conditions
2. The nose piece should be comfortable and contact your
nose without pinching.
" Adjustable temples - allowing the user to angle to spec to ot
the face better
3. You should be able to see in all directions without major
obstruction.
" Soft nexible arms are very comfortable reducing strain on
head
Fit of safety specs is vitally important. Use this guide to help
ond the perfect ot.
" Low proole arms to wear in conjunction with earmufs
4. The overall weight of your safety eyewear should be evenly
distributed between your ears and your nose so that frames
sit comfortably on your face without distracting from tasks.
" Soft nose piece to ensure grip on the wearers nose and for
long wear comfort
" Dust guards to stop the path of particulates into the eye
5. Frames should ot close to the face without hitting your
eyelashes. The space around the frames and your face
should be less than a pencil width. Gaps of less than or
equal to 6-8mm are preferred.
6. Lenses should cover eyebrow and any soft tissue around it.
7. Eyewear should stay in place when you move your head
front to back and side to side.
