FOOTWEAR FAQ’S
IS BISON FOOTWEAR CERTIFIED?
Yes, all our safety boots are certified and meet all safety
standards AS 2210.3:2019 and EN ISO 20345:2011 and
Dielectric ASTM F2413-18 (we can provide certification
certificates for all).
HOW LONG SHOULD SAFETY BOOTS LAST?
It is generally accepted that a pair of safety work boots should
last from 3 to 12 months, but this depends on many factors i.e.
occupation, exposure to harsh chemicals, environment wet and
muddy, person weight, work hours per day/week.
DO YOU HAVE BOOTS WITH AN ANTI-PENETRATION INSOLE?
Yes, styles XTLZWHE, XTLZST, XTLZBK, XTZBK, WOLFBK and
GRIZZLYBK.
WHAT ARE THE TELL-TALE SIGNS I NEED TO REPLACE MY
SAFETY BOOTS?
Loss of sole tread and grip, delamination of sole and/or upper
components, exposed safety toe caps, loss and/or damaged
fixing eyelets.
DO YOU HAVE BOOTS THAT ARE ELECTRIC HAZARD
RESISTANT (EH)?
Yes, styles XTLZWHE, XTLZST, XTLZBK and XTZBK.
WHY DO I NEED TOE CAP PROTECTION?
All Bison Safety Boots comes with toe cap protection in
compliance to AS 2210.3:2019. Bison toe caps, either steel
or composite are a protective reinforcement at the end of
work boots to prevent injury to the toes from falling objects.
In most workplaces having toe cap protection in your safety
boots is compulsory.
SHOULD I WEAR A SLIP ON OR LACE UP?
Slip on gusset boots are very good if you need to take off
your boots regularly but do not provide any ankle roll
protection, many construction sites do not allow slip on
boots. Lace up boots have ankle roll protection and now with
the zip side option are also very good if you need to take off
your boots regularly.
ARE SAFETY BOOTS WATERPROOF?
Unless stated generally no, most safety boots may state water
resistant but this is not the same as waterproof. Genuine water
proof boots are specifically made and more expensive. Our
Bison boot range are water resistant for short term exposure
to moisture.
I SEE THE INCA AND MOHAWK GUMBOOTS HAVE CUT OFF
RINGS – WHAT IS BEST TO USE TO CUT THESE?
A sharp Stanley knife or a large pair of quality scissors.

FOOTWEAR CARE
CLEANING
PROTECT YOUR BOOTS FROM HYDROLYSIS
To ensure the best service and wear from footwear, it is
important that the footwear is regularly cleaned and treated
with a good proprietary cleaning product. Do not use caustic
cleaning agents. Where footwear is subjected to wet conditions,
it shall, after use, be allowed to dry naturally in a cool, dry area
and not force dried as this can cause deterioration of the upper
material. This footwear has been successfully tested against
PM144 for slip resistance. Please be aware, slippage may still
occur in certain environments.
Hydrolysis is a normal material aging process that occurs in all
footwear with a cushioned PU midsole. Hydrolysis is not visible
from the outside so a few of the tips below can help protect
your boots from hydrolysis:
• Store your boots in a dark, dry and well-ventilated area.
• Keep your boots away from sources of excessive heat.
• Clean your boots regularly. Wash off muck and manure with
water at the end of each day.
WEARLIFE
30 DAY COMFORT
If the footwear is cared for and worn in the correct working
environment and stored in dry ventilated conditions, it should
give a good wear life, without premature failure of the outsole,
upper and upper stitching. The actual wear life for footwear is
dependant on the type of footwear, environmental conditions
which can affect the wear, contamination and degradation of
the product.
All BISON XT and Dune Safety Boots come with a 30 day comfort guarantee.
Guaranteed Formidable Protection without compromising comfort!
