National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) is a voluntary, non-profit association of women who work
either in the construction industry or for business organisations who provide services to the construction industry.
ABOUT NAWIC
The number of women in the construction industry has grown
exponentially in recent years and women are hard at work in
just about every construction job. This growth has prompted
the establishment and success of NAWIC in New Zealand.
NAWIC was founded in Texas in 1952 by a group of 16 women.
Since then it has grown to an international organisation. Today
it is going strong in the USA, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia,
South Africa, New Zealand and most recently in Qatar.
NAWIC New Zealand has been active in Wellington since
1996, and has Chapters in Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty,
Wellington and Canterbury and two satellite chapters, one
in Queenstown Lakes and the other in Otago. They are also
establishing additional satellite chapters as interest grows
outside these regions.

IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY!
NAWIC's membership base is diverse and includes the
following professions and more; quantity surveyors, project
managers, suppliers, planners, designers, architects,
engineers, tradespeople, students, apprentices, health and
safety managers and lawyers.

These awards are held annually to celebrate and honour the
achievements of women working in construction and affiliated
industries, as well as recognising those organisations active
in redressing the gender imbalance in the industry. As a gift

fitting that we show our support. With NAWIC's vision to be the
leading voice for women in the construction industry - Bison

When our product development team created our Bison
Women's Workwear range we had resounding feedback that
women wanted to dress the same as their male colleagues,
but not look like they were wearing men’s clothes. In most
cases for women who were required to wear a uniform they
were only offered men's workwear.
Bison Workwear stock the same products but designed to
fit women and designed to fit men. For team uniformity this
means the whole team can wear the same kit but with their
own fit requirements!

NAWIC encourages women to pursue, establish and sustain
successful careers in the construction industry. Their vision is
to be the leading voice for women in this sector.
They hold regular events, with a focus on both technical and
professional development, to inform and up-skill women in
construction and to promote networking and information
sharing for the betterment of the construction industry as
a whole. These events are held in person and online with a
variety of topics.
