WATER
Like a fish to water
With its blue-green, almost
transparent, water, the lagoon at
Bel Ombre enjoys great marine
biodiversity and is one of the most
beautiful spots in the South of
the island. Since 2015, Heritage
Resorts has been engaged in the
rehabilitation and conservation
of the lagoon’s ecosystem in
collaboration with the NGO Reef
Conservation. Put on your flippers,
mask and snorkel and dive into a
marine underworld that is quite
unique. Run by KiteGlobing, based
at the C Beach Club, snorkelling
trips lead to a splendid spectacle.
Once your head’s submerged, a
colourful world springs into sight.
The lagoon is home to almost fifty
fish species, including the Chinese
trumpetfish with its elongated
body, the vermilion-coloured clown
fish, the parrotfish with its multicoloured scales and the blue-lined
large-eye bream. Around the pass
at Saint-Martin, you may also come
across some sea turtles swimming
gracefully along. Moreover, the
lagoon is home to a range of coral
species that Heritage Resorts makes
considerable efforts to conserve.
With a few movements of your
flippers, wander through a marine
underworld where the abundance of
fish life is simply amazing!
