Darlene’s Story
Darlene had been debating about whether or not to make the “big move”
for her mother, Doris. “Mama was mixing up her medicines and forgetting
to wash her clothes,” Darlene said. “So many days I felt like her personal
assistant, taking care of her.”
Then Doris fell in her home. And Darlene knew she had to act immediately.
“We looked at several assisted living facilities before Thrive,” Darlene said.
“But they were kind of dark and dreary. I knew Mama would never enjoy such
a place.” Then Darlene visited Thrive. And at once, she was impressed.
“The building was so open. Light flooded in. It was so uplifting.”
Doris became one of the community’s first residents. Thrive’s team members
made Doris - and Darlene - comfortable right away. “We expected a warm
welcome but we got so much more. The concierge gave us high-fives and hugs,”
Darlene said. “I knew I made the right choice. I loved the humility of the
President. He came to hang out with the residents, like they were old friends.”
The team members value Darlene’s input. “Before we got there, the Director
of Health and Wellness came up with the best plan to give Mama the care she
needs. They do a wonderful job keeping me up-to-date on any improvements
she is experiencing or any changes that she needs.”
At Thrive, Doris has found a home. And a ton of new friends.
