Trustee Update
I am delighted to have the
opportunity as Chairman of the Pain
Relief Foundation and on behalf of the
Trustee Committee to provide an
introduction to our 2024 Newsletter.
This year has been a really productive
time and we have regained our
momentum, as you will see from
inside the significant engagement
with our research portfolio. Our
programme of activities includes our
research
publications,
grant
applications and the delivery of our
unique specialist conference and
educational programmes attracting
attention both in the UK and Globally.
Amidst
Backlog
and
Economic
Challenges, we have remained
committed to advancing chronic pain
research. The UK's healthcare system
is facing a significant backlog, with
thousands of individuals awaiting
treatment, underscoring the urgent
need for research that can alleviate
the debilitating effects of chronic
pain.
The
Foundation
has
prioritised
research funding, recognising that
scientific breakthroughs are essential
for developing effective treatments
and improving the lives of patients
with chronic pain.
This continued support has resulted in
groundbreaking
discoveries
and
the
advancement of promising research
programmes.
The Foundation is also committed to
continue to support pain researchers and
healthcare
professionals.
It
nurtures
emerging talent, promotes collaboration,
and fosters the dissemination of knowledge
that can lead to improved patient care.
The Foundation's research endeavours are
entirely funded by the generosity of its
supporters. It appeals for continued
support to fuel groundbreaking research
and ultimately create a world where no one
has to endure the burden of chronic pain.
As we embark on the next chapter of the
Pain Relief Foundation, we are filled with
optimism and determination. By embracing
inclusivity, diversity, and innovation, we aim
to create a future where people with
chronic pain can live fulfilling and
empowered lives.
I hope you enjoy the read and do not
hesitate to contact us if you can help
further our support in this important work
