Ekvn-Yefolecv also undertakes signi昀椀cant efforts in ecological restoration and cultural revitalization. The community reintroduces
culturally signi昀椀cant and threatened species, such as buffalo and
sturgeon, and cultivates heritage livestock and heirloom crops
to decolonize their diet. The ecovillage emphasizes the revival
of Maskoke matriarchy and traditional governance systems
while practicing ethnobotanical conservation.
In 2023, Ekvn-Yefolecv rematriated an additional 600
acres, applied prescribed 昀椀re to 2,000 acres for longleaf
pine ecosystem restoration, completed 5 strawbale and/
or timber frame buildings, expanded its holistically
grazed bison pasture by 60 acres and 14 bison, and numerous other infrastructure additions including water
catchment and storage, energy, and roads.
Ekvn-Yefolecv's vision serves as an archetype for other
Indigenous communities, demonstrating a scalable, replicable model for a just transition to sustainable lifeways
rooted in linguistic, cultural, and ecological resilience.
