Northwest Reel Life September 2024 Volume 4 Issue 1 - Flipbook - Page 4
EDITOR’S CORNER:
Full speed ahead! As we say goodbye to an amazing sockeye year the focus turns to coho. This was always
my favorite month – launching out of the Edmonds sling, watching my boat hang suspended in air,
hoping I wouldn’t be on the evening news… we’d motor out and start our troll at the border of Area 9 and
10. It was always a tough decision – and I almost always picked Troll South in Area 10. Unless the waters
were calm and Possession Bar was calling my name. I can still smell the saltwater and hear the sounds of
the seagulls.
Meanwhile, a new state-record chinook salmon was caught here in Montana at Fort Peck. Jim Fauth
landed a 32.62-pound chinook. Fort Peck grows big fish!
Whatever your favorite late summer/fall fishery, I hope you have many opportunities to get out and enjoy
this beautiful time of year. Stay safe!
