Northwest Reel Life March 2024 Volume 3 Issue 5 - Flipbook - Page 4
EDITOR’S CORNER:
March is one of those great transition months, a time of renewal and rebirth. Looming on the horizon for
Washington anglers are Central Washington trout lake openers. John Kruse has the specifics on where to
go and enjoy those beautiful spring days coming our way soon. Meanwhile, we have several articles about
March steelhead. Yes, it’s not the same as the “good old days”, but there are opportunities to catch these
amazing fish. Randy Castello shares his springtime primer on kokanee to help you fill your coolers with
these delicious landlocked sockeyes.
As to ice fishing, well, March is when you’ll start seeing pictures of trucks and shacks crashing through the
thinning ice. Be careful out there and always bring safety gear. Matt and I were out last week and we had
a solid 12 inches of ice, that said, it will be time soon to gear up for river floats on our area rivers. Fishing
offers so many options to anglers, hit your favorite spots, or better yet, try something new!
