place to fish in solitude in
Central Oregon. Not true.
In easy driving distance,
there are more than 200
lakes and streams. The
Deschutes River is over 200
miles long and good fishing
can be found in every mile.
Local anglers have learned
to adapt to the pressure
and there are places where
fishermen rarely tread.
Here's how to fish like a
Bend local.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
It starts with respect. An
angler who approaches
the river behind another
fisherman should find
another spot or sit down
and wait. Watch the
direction the other angler
is moving and let them go
that way without blocking
them.
If walking behind another
angler, give room to cast,
and don't allow your
shadow to fall on the water.
Treat the other guy like you
want to be treated.
And fish when the average
angler is back in town.
Bend has many attractions
inside and outside of town:
the Deschutes National
Forest, the Deschutes River
Trail, the Cascade Lakes
Highway, the High Desert
Museum, Smith Rock State
