PROPOSED LEGISLATION TO CONSOLIDATE AND REFORM SUMMARY
OFFENCES AGAINST PUBLIC ORDER.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 88-59, dated 12th May, 1988, submitted by
the Attorney General in relation to this matter, subject
to:penalty outlined in Annexure A,
page 4, S.32. Collumn III being
increased from $1,000 to $5,000.
the following words being deleted from
the current Act "in all circumstances".
the draft legislation to include power
for magistrates to order restoration.
The Attorney General is to take the necessary action to
give effect to Cabinet's decision, including the
preparation of the necessary legislation.
HIGHER EDUCATION BILL, 1988 AND COGNATE BILL.
Approval was given to the provisions of the Higher
Education Bill 1988, and Cognate Bill, as summarised in
Cabinet Minute 88-61, dated 12th May, 1988, submitted by l
the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs in relation
to this matter.

ADOPTION OF CHILDREN (AMENDMENT) BILL, 1988.
Approval was given to the provisions of the Adoption of
Children (Amendment) Bill, 1988, as summarised in
Cabinet Minute 88-65, dated 13th May, 1988, submitted by
the Minister for Family and Community Services in
relation to this matter.
COMMUNITY WELFARE (AMENDMENT) BILL, 1988.
Approval was given to the provisions of the Community
Welfare (Amendment) Bill, 1988, as summarised in Cabinet
Minute 88-64, dated 13th May, 1988, submitted by the
Minister for Family and Community Services in relation
to this matter.
