PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF EDUCATION COMMISSION ACT 1980,
TO REFORM, TEACHER PROMOTION.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 88-34, dated 22nd April, 1988, submitted
by the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs in
relation to this matter, subject to:The deletion from Recommendation (a) of
the words "and to open up specific promotions
positions for filling by open advertisement;".

The Minister for Education and Youth Affairs is to take
the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.
SYDNEY HARBOUR TUNNEL - PROJECT REVIEW.
Approval was given to option 11(i) on Page 3 of Cabinet
2nd May, 1988, in relation to this
Minute 88-42, •.
matter.
The Minister for Transport is to take the necessary
action to give effect to Cabinet's decision.

JUDICIAL APPOINTMENTS.
Cabinet endorsed a proposal by the Attorney General that
recommendations be made to the Governor-in-Council for

appointments:the following
Mr. Donald John McCredie, and
Mr. Hugh Phillip Walmsley Johnston, Q.C.,
as Judges of the District Court.
Mr. Bruce Raymond Brown, as Member and
Chairperson of the Victims Compensation
Tribunal, for a term of 3 years.
