AN APPLICATION BY THE SYDNEY OLYMPIC GAMES CITIZENS'
COUNCIL TO STAGE THE SUMMER OLYMPIC GAMES FROM 21ST
SEPTEMBER - 6TH OCTOBER, 1996.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 88-212, dated 23rd August, 1988,
submitted by the Premier, in relation to this matter.
PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE INDUSTRIAL ARBITRATION ACT
1940 IN RELATION TO THE GENERAL PRINCIPLES TO BE APPLIED
IN THE MAKING OF AWARDS AND INDUSTRIAL AGREEMENTS.
Consideration was given to the recommendations contained
in Cabinet Minute 88-213, dated 23rd August, 1988,
submitted by the Minister for Industrial Relations and
Employment, in relation to this matter.
Cabinet decided that:Recommendation 3.1 - Approved.
Recommendation 3.2 and 3.3 - Deferred for further
consideration by the Minister for Industrial
Relations and Employment.
The Minister for Industrial Relations and Employment is
to take the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.

APPOINTMENT OF TIMOTHY JAMES STUDDERT Q.C., AS A SUPREME
COURT JUDGE; AND OF FREDERICK ANGUS KIRKHAM, AS A
DISTRICT COURT JUDGE.
Cabinet approved of the following recommendations being
made to the Governor-in-Council as proposed by the
Attorney General:Mr. Timothy James Studdert Q.C., as a Supreme Court
Judge; and
Mr. Frederick Angus Kirkham as a District Court
Judge.
The Attorney General is to take the necessary action to
give effect to Cabinet's decision, including
arrangements for the necessary medical examinations.
