PROPOSED LEGISLATION WITH RESPECT TO SYDNEY CITY COUNCIL_AND
RELATED MATTERS.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 88-135, dated 24th June, 1988, submitted by
the Minister for Local Government, and Planning, in relation
to this matter, subject to the following amendments:Recommendation 5(f) - the deletion
of the word 'manager' and insertion
of the word 'clerk'.
Recommendation 5(g) - the new
Planning Authority to contain a
non-council majority.
Recommendation 5(i) - deleted.
In regard to Recommendation 4(iii), it was agreed that
Ministers might care to express any views on boundaries,
personally to the Minister for Local Government, and
Planning.
The Minister for Local Government, and Planning is to take
the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision,
including the preparation of the necessary legislation.
5.
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE CO-ORDINATOR GENERAL
FUNCTION.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute 88-133, dated 20th June, 1988, submitted by
the Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, and
Public Works, in relation to this matter, subject to:the terms of reference for the Role
of Co-ordinator General as outlined
in the paper distributed at the
meeting by the Deputy Premier.
the function being limited to projects
which are very large ($20M plus), or of
strategic significance to New South
Wales,and when a private or Government
authority seeks assistance in securing
inter-government agency co-operation.
The Deputy Premier, Minister for State Development, and
Public Works is to take the necessary action to give effect
to Cabinet's decision.
