BANANA INDUSTRY BILL 1987.
Approval was given to the provisions of the Banana Industry
Bill 1987, as summarised in Cabinet Minute No. 97-87 dated
2nd April, 1987, submitted by the Minister for Agriculture in
relation to this matter, subject to:the Minister for Consumer Affairs being
consulted on appointments to the Banana
Industry Committee in order that consumers
continue to be represented.
TRANSPORT ACCIDENT COMPENSATION REFORM.
Consideration of Cabinet Minute No. 366-86, dated 1st
December, 1986, submitted jointly by the Deputy Premier and
Minister for Transport and the Treasurer in relation to this
matter, was deferred to the next meeting.
PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH AND SAFETY ACT,
1983, TO WIDEN REGULATION-MAKING POWERS AND TO PROVIDE FOR
INDUSTRY CODES OF PRACTICE AND OTHER MISCELLANEOUS
AMENDMENTS.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute No. 65-87, dated 13th March, 1987, submitted
by the Minister for Industrial Relations, and Employment in
relation to this matter, subject to:consultation with officers of the Departments
of Public Works and Ports, and Education and
the Metropolitan Water Sewerage and Drainage
Board in order that no onerous burden be
placed on the Crown.
The Minister for Industrial Relations and Employment is to
take the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation.
