APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT WESTERN LANDS COMMISSIONER.
Cabinet approved of a recommendation being made to the
Governor-in-Council that Dr. John Pickard be appointed as an
Assistant Western Lands Commissioner for a term of seven
years as proposed in Cabinet Minute No. 235-87, dated 20th
August, 1987, submitted by the Minister for Lands in relation
to this matter.
The Minister for Lands is to take the necessary action to
give effect to Cabinet's decision, including arrangements for
the necessary medical examination.
APPOINTMENT OF A COMMISSIONER OF INQUIRY UNDER SECTION 18 OF
THEENVIRONMENTAL PLANNING AND ASSESSMENT ACT 1979, AS
AMENDED.
Cabinet approved of a recommendation being made to the
Governor-in-Council that Mr. Kevin John Cleland be appointed
as a Commissioner of Inquiry for Environment and Planning for
a term of seven years from the date of appointment, as
proposed in Cabinet Minute No. 238-87, dated 21st August,
1987, submitted by the Minister for Planning and Environment,
and Heritage.
The Minister for Planning and Environment, and Heritage is to
take the necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's
decision, including arrangements for the necessary medical
examination.

OPTIONS FOR ASSISTANCE.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute No. 237-87, dated 21st August, 1987, submitted
by the Minister for Mineral Resources in relation to this
matter.
Cabinet also decided that assistance on a dollar for dollar
basis, to the value of the concession granted, would be
sought from the Commonwealth Government for freight
subsidies.
The Minister for Mineral Resources is to take the necessary
action to give effect to Cabinet's decision.
