PROPOSED AMENDMENT OF THE TRANSPORT AUTHORITIES ACT, 1980, TO
EXPAND THE AREA OF JURISDICTION OF THE URBAN TRANSIT
AUTHORITY.
Approval was given to the recommendation contained in Cabinet
Minute No. 198-87, dated 5th June, 1987, submitted by the
Deputy Premier, and Minister for Transport in relation to
this matter, subject to:the qualifications outlined in the Treasurer's
letter of 26th June, 1987.
The Deputy Premier, and Minister for Transport is to take the
necessary action to give effect to Cabinet's decision,
including the preparation of the necessary legislation.
CONSOLIDATION OF LEGISLATION _RELATING TO THE ADMINISTRATION
OF THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR TRANSPORT.
Approval was given to the recommendations contained in
Cabinet Minute No. 167-87, dated 6th May, 1987, submitted by
the Deputy Premier, and Minister for Transport in relation to
this matter, including the preparation of the necessary
legislation, subject to:Cabinet being informed of the outcome of
discussions between the Acting Minister
for Roads and the Treasurer on the proposal
to incorporate the Department of Motor
Transport into the Consolidated Fund; and

workers' compensation for new employees after
1st July, 1987, being covered by "WorkCover"
legislation.
Cabinet also decided that a major Management Strategy Review
is to be undertaken regarding the Department of Motor
Transport becoming a Department in terms of the Public
Service Act, 1979.
The Deputy Premier, and Minister for Transport and the
Acting Minister for Roads are to take the necessary action to
give effect to Cabinet's decision.
