Sixty grape vines includtng muscats, currants and raisens are also
doing well. An avenue of "Sugar Gums", planted just about August
leads up to the site of the proposed laboratory. A white fence of
about four chains with double gates, and a small wicket gate
provide an attractive frontage tiAlt main entrance from Shaw Street.
Expe rimental plcte of cereals and potatoes were established. Variety
and manurial trials were carried out. Native and introduced varieties
are being tried in the experimental plots.
In reviewing the Agricultural work since the inauguration of the
classes in 1916, very satisfactory progress has been made. Local
,business firms and others have cooperated with the High School staff
and students in Agriculture. To carry on this impottant branch of
education, and to make it'still more attractive to the sons of
thoughtful farmers, and discerning business folk, I would respectfully
urge the bRli building of the Farm laboratory withuut delay, the
purchase of a couple of dairy cows (milk-testing, separation and
buttermaking.)-could be carried on) also some poultry, the appointment of a working caretaker to supplement the student labour, and
finally a full time teacher stationed at Wagga.
I have the honor,to be,
Jas. Dawson Fsq M.A.
Chief Inspector,
Dept. of Education,
Sydney.
Sir,
Your obedient servant,
Teacher of Agriculture.
