The following is an extract 1øij a mmorangpmr I' ceived
th-July —;91,1zi (File
from Mr. Inspector Harrison, dated.'-a..
,
sYDAE r
Number 14.5/137/11277).
This work, I understand has been a matter of negotiation
between the parents and the Department for a number of years.
Men the danger from enerizr action was greater, the Headmaster
asked that some .- provision for escape from the upper floor
be made, but now that this danger has largely receded, the
urgency for such a structure has also diminished, It is
considered that there is a possibility of danger and that a
fire escape should he provided for the upper storey of the
building.
Otherwise suggestions from Building Branch are adequate and
recommended".
Hereunder, is a report prepared by Mr. G. H. Archer, dated
Aprils 1945.

"The building is a two storiey block enclosed by four walls
of stone construction, consisting of two classrooms on ground
floor, with two classrooms above, with glass partition
separating classrooms.
The present stairway is ample for present requirements.
Should a fire escape be provided at the other end of the
building, as requested, this would prove a bigger death tr -p
as the escape would have to be built over the existing timber
framed roam at present being used by the baff. No action
has been taken in preparation of estimate, pending farther
advice on this subject".
