Mr. Inspector Harrison is of the opinion that no
extension of the courses at Kiama is warranted at present, as
the feeder schools are too few for permanency. He does not
consider it any hardship for students to go to the Wollongong

of decentralisation in education, and he regards it as offerin
some facility for super-primary education for those who are
unable or insu!ficiently inclined to make some personal
sacrifices to secure a sound secondary education.

The average attendance of super-primary pupils at

Wollongong is reasonably convenient and is not unduly protract
Furthermore, the numbers at Kiama last year were scarcely stro

in view of the number of super-primary pupils who were in
attendance at the Kiama Public School last year, the extension
of facilities is not justified., but that the matter will be S
reviewed at the beginning of the new school year in the light'
The number of post-primary pupils enrolled at Kiama,
The number of Kiama children travelling to Wollongong
for post-primary education.
A suggested draft reply to Mr. H. Powles, M.L.A.,
is attached for the signature V the Iinister, if approved.
