SUBJECT:
Hen'rk ('viagga Wagga):
ablishment of School.
'
Wagga Wagga Public School. In I1ay, 1957, 94 Primary children
were conveyed over that section. A recent survey indicated an
increase of 17 on those figures. Further increases are
expected in 1958 and the service will be hard—pressed to meet
the needs of children available for enrolment at Wagga Wagga
schools.
A site of 5 acres within the Parish of South Wagga
Wagga, County of Wynyard, being part of Portion 162, was
resumed for Public School purposes on 17th February, 1956,
and is ideally situated to meet needs at Henwood Park (H.O.
Papers 52/1 21/31798). In view of the present number of
children of Primary school age, it would appear that a school
containing at least 4 classrooms should be provided as soon
as possible. Because of the large number of children under
school age, it is apparent that further accommodation would
be required within a period of, say, two years. A large
Primary School is envisaged in the future at this centre, and
therefore it is suggested that brick veneer buildings might
be considered for erection. Proposals for additional
accommodation at South Wagga Wagga, in brick, should be
deferred until such time as the school at Henwood Park has
been occupied, so that the effect of the new school on those
proposals might be more readily seen.
it is RECCJ;iENDED that:-.
Approval be given to the establishment of
a Primary School at Henwood Park,
A school be erected in brick veneer as soon
as possible containing at least four (4)
classrooms, offices, toilets, electrical
installations, assembly area, etc., and
3
The Department of Public Works be asked to
prepare plans and specifications for the
erection of such a school with a view to
arranging for the building to be ready for
occupation as soon as possible.
