The Hon. D.H.Drummond,
Linister for Education,
SYDNEY.
5MAY 1939
Dear Mr. Drummond,
amvenclosing a letter from Dr. P. H.
Petherick, Hon. Secretary, Parents and Citizens' Association,
Tweed Heads, with regard to a proposal to erect a fence
in front of the school grounds at Tweed Heads.
From his letter it would appear that it is
proposed that a wire fence should be erected at that centre,
but from my personal knowledge and experience of fencing
in the Tweed Heads area I would say that any form of wire
fencing would be most unsuitable and no matter what efforts
are made to preserve it by painting it would not be a success.
The school s situated quite close to the salt
water and the prevailing tindsfrom the ocean also have a
very serious effect on any fencing in which wire is used.
I would strongly urge that a fence of suitable timber would
be much more preferable and would last for many years longer.
Yours faithfully,
