ACCOMMODATION.
From previous reports on the accommodation position
in the Girls' Department at this schools it will be remembered
26NOV194Othat a sixth class occupies a hat room into which approximately
15 desks have been carried and temporarily arranged.

This hat room is exposed to the full force of the itte
morning and afternoon sun, and, consecuently) in hot, dusty
weather is uninhabitable. On Wednesday, 18th November, last,
it was reported to me that the teacher in this hatroom
became affected by the conditions and had to be relieved of
duty while resting in the staffroom.
I have instructed the Mistress of the Department that
this room is not to be occupied when temperatures are high,
although this will lead to overcrowding and unhealthy conditi
in other rooms.
I have investigated the acconnodation1 needs at this
school in both boys' and girls' departments for 1941. It
from figures available that boys' classes-will increase by
ones but that there will be one less girls f .class next year.
This will not cause any improvement in the accommodation
position aa the boys' department will need the room now occu-p
ied by girls in the double portable building attached to the
boys' department. The girls will still need an additional
room in order that the use of this hatroom may be discontiny
/1
1-have recommended previously that an additional room
besuppiTror oAstructed to relieve this unfortunate posit.L
, ,..mompiummomommm.I have no rooms which may be transferred to Burke Ward.
I fear there will be political and public reactions if thcpe
,conditions are allowed to continue during the first term of
next year.
C°
It is RECOMMENDED
that the provision of an additional room be treated
as one of extreme urgency.
b/ that climatic conditions here shnuldlead to Preferenqe.
