Proposed Cinema Theatre, Manning Street, ±iama.
Application for approval of. plan,
in view of the original scheme reported upon on January
22nd last, the proprietor has now submitted an amended uncolored plan and outline specification for the new building.
The site has a frontage of 66, 0" to Manning Street, by
a depth of 330 ft., and on one side of premises there is to be
a right of way about 12' 6" wide adjoining a park and extending
from the street to the rear of building, and connecting with
vacant land intervening between the proprietor's business
premises and the picture show.
As the hail will now be classed under Grade "c" the site
complies with requirements of the Regulations, and the two
shops in front are permissible under No. 59a, as they are
completely cut off from the licensed premises, and are of fire
resisting construction throughout, with reinforced concrete
ceilings.
The building will be constructed of brica with galvanized
iron roof, having walls about 24' 0" high above floor. In the
front there are two lockup shops, each 23' 6,1 x 12' 0", with
plate glass fronts and tiled dadoes.
The entrance vestibule occupies 24' 6" of the frontage by
a depth of about 22' 6" and gives access to the stalls and
contains two staircases from gallery with two ticket boxes
under same. The auditorium is about 941 0" x 50' 00, and after
allowing for orchestra enclosure will accommodate about 840
persons at 5*5 sup9 feet per person.

and external doors in back wall opening outwards.
A gallery 501 0" x 27' 6" is provided in front over shops
and vestibule, and after allowing for space occupied by
operating box and staircase enolosures, wouldaccommodate 148
persons, though the actual capacity of both stalls and gallery
will be determined when seating is finally fixed.
From the stalls there are four escape doors, viz, two to
side right of way, and two to front vestibule, and the total
exit space provided is 23' 0", which is the minimum prescribed
for the seating to be installed.
From the gallery two concrete staircases, specified to
have treads and risers of 11" and 7" respectively, and with
continuous side handrails, and wire netted well hole enclosures,
are provided, totalling 10' 0" in width, which is also the
minimum allowed for the seating proposed.
As the staircases discharge directly to the front
vestibule they are acceptable.
At the rear of gallery an operating box 12' 6,1 x 7' 6,f,
and a rewinding room 7' 9" x 5' oft are provided, and are
specified to be of timber studding sheeted throughout with
fibro cement or galvanized iron; with self closing doors
opening outwards, metal shutters in front, and roof vent ilat ion.
