Carson is, I understand, the
theatre at Kiama.
Previous to this .the Police had reported other matters
needing attention.
Subsequently, after an inspection by one of its officers,
the Board of Fire Commissioners submit a recommendation covering:Provision of additional exits.
Removal of operating box to new position.
Gallery stairs renewal.
Other matters of minor importance.
Acting on this recommendation, Mr. Hindmarsh, the
proprietor, was requested to execute these requirements.
Through Mr. Davies, M.L.A. , Mr. Hindmarsh points out that
he considers the more important matters of the requirements
rather drastic, and while willing to meet the Department
where he can, he points out difficulties in giving effect to

already given effect to the minor matters.
In the absence of full present conditions the Police were
asked to submit further particulars of existing conditions,
in order that a way of getting over the position without involving undue expense might be arrived at, more particularly
as regards additional exits; however, the street levels
precluded what was in my mind.
This is an instance whereby a personal inspection in
company with the proprietor might result in a satisfactory
arrangement being arrived at with Mr. Hindmarsh, and one that
would leave conditions so that the premises wonld be reasonably safe as far as the public is concerned, and would not be
open to further criticism.
Recommended that the Supervising Architect make a personal inspection of these premises, and that pending such
inspection,a temporary license be granted for a further period
of three months from 1.10.25, and that Mr.Davies M.L.A. be advised today of the action taken.
The Under Secretary.
Supervising Architect.
24.9.25.
In view of the fact that
Mr.Davies,M.L.A., telephoned regarding this case this
mornin3., it is submitted that he beA informed in terms
of the above report.
