LIST OF REQUIREMENTS.
The existing stairs to gallery are in each case to be

-iemoved and are to be replaced by two new stairs at least 31 6"
wide in the clear between strings, with risers not exceeding 7"
and treads of a minimum width of 10" (exclusive of nosing). Stairs
are to be made as fire resisting as practicable with heavy hardwood strings, treads and risers, and all parts of same appearing
in hall are to be lined with rough wood lining covered with sheet
metal.
Suitable handrails are to be provided on eadb side of
stairs. At head of stairs it will be necessary to remove the five
/ front seats in gallery in each of the two blocks of seats nearest
stair so as to leave free means of access to head of stairs.
Suitable stout walling is to be carried around wellgallery floor to provide safe conditions.

At head of each flight of stairs provide and fix on
walling an exit lamp of the approved pattern.
The corridor at foot of stairs is not to be encroached
on to any great extent by the new stairs.
A doorway is to be provided in partition in place of
Exits.

Doors from gallery to balcony are to be left free for
emergency exits.
The stairway to basement is to be enclosed off from

same, and wood lined on both sides, and further lined on inner

Exit lamp to be placed on wall at head of stairs, and
the row of seats at head of stairs is to be removed to allow of
free access to stairs.
Street front doors are to have monkey-tailed and other
bolts removed, and are to be fitted with spring bolts actuated
by strong chains.
These doorways are to he kept free of all obstacles.
