LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NEW SOUTH WALES
PARLIAMENT HOUSE
SYDNEY
16th October, 1968.
The Hon. C.B. Cutler, M.L.A.,
Deputy Premier and Minister for
Education and Science,
Sydney. N.S.W. 2000.
Dear Mr. Cutler,
I am rather concerned at the position
regarding three schools in my Electorate, namely
the Dubbo North Public School, the Dubbo West
Public School and the South Dubbo High School,
and would appreciate anything that could be done to
relieve the problems at these three schools.
The South Dubbo High School has of course
been included in a list that you have just announced
that tenders will be called. However, I am lead to
believe by the Parents & Citizens' Association that
with the intake of additional First Year classes
and the school proceeding to Sixth Form in 1969,
that the accommodation position will be serious and
there will be the need to provide further temporary
accotmodation.
My concern at the Dubbo North and Dubbo West
Schools is that both these schools have been in serious
need of additional accommodation and I understand that
in both cases, the work on these schools is to be
undertaken by the Public Works Department. I find this
very hard to understand as there are a number of
experienced builders seeking work in the district and
able to complete the work, I am sure, much quicker and
cheaper and more effectively than the Department of
Public Works.
