On the 10th March, 1944, Mr. Pillans, Headmaster,
Dubbo High School, applied for permission to suspend ordinary
school routine on 'Afednesday, 19th April, 1944, in order th7A

request has been sanctioned.
On the 14th March, 1944, Mr. Pillans again wrote
in connection with his application for the annual school
fete and stated that he omitted to refer to the boxing item.
In this latter communication he has applied for permission
to hold the usual boxing items on the following conditions:
each competition or display to be limited
or restricted to two 2 minute rounds;
the boys to be properly graded;
contestants to be supervised and controlled
by a aua1ified teacher (Mr. McCaffery)
proper 8 oz. gloves to be used.
the parent's written consent and acceptance
of all respondibility to be received from each boy
participating.
It is RECOMTENDND that approval be given to the
holding of the boxing tournament on the 19th April on the
conditions set by Mr. Pillans in his communication of 14th
March, 1944, subject to the following conditions being
also observed:
A doctor to be in attendance.
The approval of the Chief Secretary's
Department be obtained to this contest,and
Contest to take place during ordinary
school hours.
