on the 27.7.1941,
the Dubbo
Brigade vas notified by a soldi er wearing kt..
Uniform that a weather board class roma at the rear of the main
Public School was alight.
The fire brigade attended Lziediutely, and upon arrival
round that the premises were then Dwuctically gutted. .,:he brigade
extinguished the outbreak, and prevented the flames from
spreading to other buildings in the vicinity.
Inquiries were made as to the origin of the outbreak,
and the only conclusion arrived at by Police and the School
OfficiLds is that some person had been on the premises, and left
a lihted match or cigarette, which caused the fire.
The building destroyed was composed of weather board,
and was a double class room at the rear of the main Public High
achool, which is composed of brick, and contained desks, pens,
pencils, and a quantity of writing material and book.s.The value of
he building and contents being presumed to be appro:zimately £500.
Particulars of the fire have been submitted to the
District Deputy Goroner on the Police Fire I-to:port, same as the
att ,cided. As no person is suspected as incendiary, he has dis
pensed ..ith n inquiry into the occurrence.
