Establishment of School.
Following on a direction from the Ninister
regardIng the acquisition of a new site and provision of
schooling in this area, the matter of establishment of a
school has been investigated by the District Inspector, who
advises that children living in the area to be served are
attending the Tamworth West Primary School and number 140
children who have brothers and sisters below school age
totalling 67. These figures do not allow for children of
pre-school age whose families are not represented in the
Tamworth West school. Mr. Inspector Howard advises that the
numbers which would be first enrolments are not at present
clear.
In regard to planning, he recommends that the
Government Architect should early view the area at present
recommended for acquisition from the Tamworth Municipal Council
for prir-ary and secondary education in order that a complete
pattern for use of the area can be decided.
The names of 158 children of school age and 172
children under 5 years of age have now been listed.
The Sites Branch advises that the Valuer General
has now obtained an Agreement for Sale in respect of an area
of 18 acres 1 rood l9 perches and following Ministerial
approval, the Agreement for Sale has been returned for completion.
This Agreement allows the Department immediate possession of
the area pending completion of the legal transfer.
It is RECOMVENDED„ therefore, that approval be
given for the establishment of a public school for primary
children on this site and action be taken regarding provision
of accommodatipn, as susgested-by the Distrpt Inspector.
