necessary at this school. The cost of the repairs would not
amount to more than about £30.
MILPARINK& AND TIBOOBURRik:
Mr. Wright pointed out that these two schools had
been built by the residents and handed over to the Department.
They therefore did not cost the Department a penny to erect.
These schools were badly in need of repair, in one
place in the Milparknka school the wall is cracking.
It was stated that at Tibooburra the post office
building is available, and it was requested that the Deprtment
acquire it for school purposes, as it was much better than the
present school.
Me enrolment is 29 in one school and 15 in the
other.
The Minister promised that the various matters would
be looked into.
Mr. Wright also asked thc.consideration of the Minister
on the following matter:- He stated that certain of the citizens
/had subscribed money for prizes in connection with Swimming 'ontests at Broken hill.
(
Great interest is taken in these contests, but owing
to the heavy enlistments from the teaching ranks, there are only
two teachers left.
Gonsequently it was not possible to hold
the contests. To overcome the difficulty Mr. Wright suggested
that the iqnister give his sanction to the Caretaker of the Baths
taking charge. Ihis man is very capable, and it would be a pity
If' the swimming contests could not be gone on with.
The Minister/that this matter could be fixed up as
Mr. Wright had vouched for the capability and trustworthiness
of the Caretaker of the Baths. Mr. Brookfield also recommended
‘' him as a good man.
