Dear Mr. McGirr,
A1Alnajcesent gor i-Tincess Elizabeth.
refer to my letter of th 5th December, 1947
relating to the Blankets which the Government presented
to Princess Elizabeth on the occasion of her recent marriage.
pointe out in that letter two of the packages
containing the special blankets arrived by air and were
duly delivered to Her Rel highness.
The 3rd package, which was understool to be part of
the same air consignment has not yet arrived.
The c',uantas Empire airways representatives here were ,
some time ago, requested to make urgent enquiries regarding
the arrival of the third aclaige and now state that, after
exhaustive search, they have not been able to trace it
although their enquiries are still proceeding.
It would appear that there is a possibilitz/ that the
3rd parcel has been lost but, in view of the seriousness
of the situation, it is suggested that enquiries be made
at your end.
A letter was received on the 6th January from he
Government 3tors Department stating that the 8 cases of
additional blankets (for distribution by the Princess to
necessitous people) had been shipped by the "Zsperance Bay"
and I am making appropriate arrangements for these to be
handed to her Roal Highness on arrival.
No doubt you will let me know in due course the result
of your enouiries relating to the missing package.
Yours faithfully,
Agent General.
The hon. James LeGirr,
Premier & Colonial Treasurer,
SYDNEY.
