marriage, -J,ere three special quality rugs and 6 pairs of :pecial
blankets intended for the Princess' personal use. These gifts
which were not insured were despatched by air through Qantas Empire
Airways on 8th lovember, 1947 adtiressed to the PLent General.
it has been learnt since, that a parcel containing the
three r1Ls was not received by the Agent General and subsequent
inquiricE by both the Agent General and Qantas Empire Airways have
failed to reveal riay traco of the missing
Enclosed herewith for perusal nd return is a copy of the
relevant consignment note and also copies of correspondence with
the Airline concerninL the missing parcel. it vollld be appreciated
if you would favour me vith an expression of opinion of the extent,
if any, to which this Department has a claim on Qantas Empire Airways
for the cof- t of rugs, viz. f:13.5.8 and/or for a rebate of a
proportion of the freight charged.
it micht he mentioned that an account for £83.13.9 rendered
by the Company for air freight has not yet been paid.
