Dear Sir,
In response to your telephoned request of the 3rd instant,
1 have pleasure in providing for the Honourable James McGirr
tile following information, regarding the blankets we manufactured
to the order of the New South Wales Government for presentation to
h.R.H. Princess Elizabeth on the occasion of her wedding.
The total order was for 206 pairs of blankets, comprising
pairs of 63" x 81" and 3 pairs of 81" x 99 white blankets bound
INIth cream satin, all of which i understand were ror the personal
ube of her Royal Highness. The balance of 200 pairs which were
coloured in 6 different pastel shades were to be distributed as
directed.
The white blankets were woven from Australian :onneys and
comeback lambs wool, especially secured from the Gonlburn ana Sfass
Districts of new South Wales, and the coloured blankets Wore oi
64/610s quality Merino wools, also specially secured from the same
districts of this State.
The Company deemed it a great honour to be selected to
manufacture these, and it might be mentioned the whole of our
employees insisted in taking some part in their production. Each
°I the 80 girls on our staff was permitted to weave a section thereof,
and the final product was, in our opinion, equal to the best ever
produced in Australia.
