PREMIER'S DEPA R TMENT, S YDNE Y.
CABLE FROM LONDON - PRESENTATION TO PRINCESS ELIZABETH.
A cable, dated 15th October, 1947, has been received
from the Agent General for New South. Wales, London, in the following
terms :
"Referring to your telegram of 14th it would give Princess
Elizabeth greatest pleasure to accept three sets of rugs and
blankets. She delighted by proposal to supplement gift
with 20u pairs of blankets for distribution. Princess not
sure whether by rugs some for bed coverings meant or whether
words refer travelling rugs. She would prefer blankets but
if different firms in New South Wales make rugs and blankets
and it is desired both kinds of firms should be involved in
present she would gladly accept both. Princess would prefer
white blankets and no symbol specially desired. If however
New South Wales Government thinks a symbol would lend
distinction to present letter E with Princess's Coronet
would be appropriate. Please telegraph for Princess's
information what form present will take."
