DUBBO.
Dear madam,
The application for the re-opening of Delray
Provisional School has been carefully considered.
It is noted that at the present time only
thirteen children of school agt; are available to attenr'.
As this number is Insufficient to maintain the required
minimum attendance of eleven pupils, I regret that the
Department is unable to accede to the request.
L,o that provision flay be made for the education
of the children in the locality, how,-ver, T wish to bring
under the notice of the parents, throuEh you, the facilities
which the De[lirtment has provided for small communities and
isolated families, viz
(a) subsidy towards the employment
of a private teacher; (b) conveyance subsidy .to aid attendance
at existing schools; and (c) instruction through the
Departments s Correspondence -chool.
lull. particulars are
enclosed.
may point out that the rates of the teaching
su' sidy have been increased, so tat the expenses which the
parents were previously called upon to bear, hitve been
substantially reduced. There are a number of Departmental
trainees, awaiting appointment to the Depa-tment's service,
who are prepared to accept positions in Subsidised -School
Their names and addresses will be supplied on applicationss.
The free use of the Departmental buLiding (ld. equipment will
be granted for the purposes of a Subsidised School.
It will
be appreciated, therefore, that very satisfactory provision
for the educqtion of children can be made wit': the aid of the
teaching subsidy.
The Gorrbespohdeace Sc ol
